We just had to get out of the house one Saturday, and so we took a drive up a wilderness backroad to a very beautiful spot along the North Fork of the Mokelumne River.
Sometimes
it is easy to miss the small beauty in nature because we are so wrapped up
in the big things. This happens quite a bit in places like Yosemite. At one
of our first stops, along a stream under a bridge, we came across this
little guy on feeding on a bright pink flower.

Then came
the bees dancing on the head of a thistle. It started with one, then another
came in, and then another. They didn't seem particularly bothered by my
taking their picture, and they made for some incredible
close up pictures.
The
water in the stream was crystal clear. Look how green the
algae on the rocks is.
The best part of the trip is yet to come. On to the
next page.
