Campaign for AD-10 starts now

The California Majority Report has an article about Democrats being "upbeat about their chances" come next November. AD-10, where Alyson Huber will be going up against either Jack Sieglock again, or Paul Hegyi if he can defeat Sieglock in a primary is mentioned.

In AD 10 Democrats overtook Republicans in registration early in the year, and have continued to increase their advantage over the summer and into the fall. First-term Assemblywoman Alyson Huber is benefiting from that trend in her suburban Sacramento/Delta district. Huber hasn't stopped campaigning since she was elected, and has been active in trying to thwart attempts to revive the construction of a Peripheral Canal in water talks.

Republicans, however, think her election was a fluke in the President Barack Obama's California landslide and have made her seat a top target. But they have yet to settle on an opponent, and there is bitter primary underway between Jack Sieglock, the 2008 nominee who lost the seat by 474 votes, and Paul Hegyi, Assemblymember Van Tran's Chief-of-Staff. Hegyi has picked up some key endorsements (including Sen. Dave Cox and GOP Assistant Leader Tom Berryhill). Sieglock, however, had a significant financial edge in the last campaign finance filing and has been winning local endorsements of his own.

The campaign starts now, today, and while the Republicans go at each other it is time for us to get behind Alyson and give here more than a 474 vote edge in 2010.
